Four people, including two bodyguards, were killed when 50 suspected Boko Haram militants attacked a prison in the city of Bauchi in Bauchi state late on 7 September. At least 800 inmates - including an unspecified number of alleged Boko Haram militants - were set free and part of the prison was set ablaze during the attack.
