At least 14 people were killed in two separate incidents in the capital Mogadishu on 31 August. Eight civilians were killed and 14 others were wounded when their bus struck an IED in an unspecified area of the city. A further six people were killed in an exchange of mortar fire between suspected Shabab militants and pro-Transitional Federal Government (TFG) fighters, backed by African Union (AU) peacekeepers, in an unspecified area in the centre of the city.
