At least 20 people were killed and 80 others – including at least 70 civilians – were wounded during a clash between Shabab militants and Transitional Federal Government (TFG) troops backed by African Union (AU) peacekeepers in the Hodan, Hawl Wadag, and Bondhere districts of Mogadishu on 23 August. An exact breakdown of casualties was not available.
