Three children were wounded when suspected dissident republican militants detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) inside a bin in Lurgan in Northern Ireland’s County Armagh on 14 August. Three other bomb alerts in the town were declared elaborate hoaxes. Police investigating the alerts later came under attack from youths throwing incendiary devices but no further casualties were reported.
