An improvised explosive device (IED), placed inside a vehicle by suspected republican dissidents, was detonated outside a police station in the Strand road area of Londonderry in Northern Ireland’s County Londonderry early on 3 August. The vehicle was destroyed and a number of nearby buildings, including the police station, were damaged in the incident but there were no casualties.
