An improvised explosive device (IED), emplaced by suspected left-wing extremists, was discovered and made safe by security forces during a counter-terrorist operation in the town of St. Gallen, approximately 80km north of the Davos ski resort, on 26 January. According to security sources, the device was discovered after a group calling itself the Revolutionary Perspective had issued an internet statement in which it warned of a “rocket in time for the opening of the World Economic Forum in Davos”.
