At least 11 soldiers and 12 Partiya Karkaren Kurdistan (PKK) militants were killed during a series of clashes in the Semdinli area of Hakkari province on 19 June. The fighting began when PKK militants attacked an army border unit. Nine soldiers were killed and 14 others wounded in the attack. Two further soldiers and 12 PKK militants were then killed in subsequent clashes in the region.
