An unspecified number of civilians were killed when a suspected suicide bomber detonated his device outside the Imam Hossein Mosque in the town of Chabahar in Sistan-Baluchestan province on 15 December. A local official was quoted as saying that dozens of people had been killed, but this could not be independently substantiated.
