At least 32 people were killed in a series of clashes between armed supporters of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Awami National Party (ANP) in the city of Karachi in Sindh province on 19 October. Thirteen of the victims were killed in one attack on the Shershah Kabari market, which is an area of traditional MQM support.
