A vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) was detonated by suspected dissident republican militants in the Culmore Road area of the city of Londonderry in Northern Ireland’s County Londonderry early on 5 October. Police received a warning about the device and evacuated the area before the device was detonated. However, a number of nearby shops and a bank were damaged in the explosion.
